Reflections on suicide of a friend

Like award winning actors,

we play our role,

 carefully crafted to hide

what others cannot see,

what is the real me.

We’ve done it so long,

 trying to relate.

Act I, scene I, exit stage right;

 forgetting our lines,

yet playing along

while not knowing the

words to the song.

The curtain comes down, the

lights begin to dim,

you make up the meaning,

you pretend there is a cause.

The silence is deafening,

there is no applause.
